It’s been a ride this past year with starting piano lessons. Looking back, there were struggles and breakthroughs. I often go back to whether starting her in piano at 4yrs old was the right decision. Reflecting back despite the challenges I still feel it was a good choice. She’s learned to focus a little more (a huge hurdle at 4yrs as I’m sure you know) and that with some hard work and perseverance, the end result and recognition (remember she’s a Leo!) was all worth it.
One highlight through all of this is she actually composed her very first song! Pretty crazy at 4yrs old but it was part of the program. You can see her perform “Princess Abbey”, the song she created, in the video below.
All in all I’m glad we were able to take this journey together (yes – it’s a high parental involvement type of activity). Being the proud mom, I’m happy to share Ella’s first year of piano performances!

I love this and would love to get my daughter into piano I took lessons years ago and would love to start up again. It’s just time and money sometimes. But on my bucklist to learn or have my daughter know how and teach me. Such a beautiful skill. Thank you so much for linking up to Share With Me. I appreciate the linky loyalty and always look forward to seeing you again at SWM. #sharewithme
Wow. What a musically talented little one you have there. Take that talent and run with it. Amazing. Thanks so much for linking up! #MMWBH
What a beautiful song she wrote! And so talented.
What age did she start? My daughter is showing an interest in the piano and plays it (well taps lots of notes, but gently) everyday. She’s 18 months old and we want to send her for lessons when she’s older but are unsure of when to start her off. Thank you so much for sharing this on #whatevertheweather x
That’s great that your daughter has shown an interest already at 18 months! Ella just started last year, shortly after she turned 4yrs old. I wrote a post about why I chose to start her at 4yrs old – hope you find some of it useful when considering when to start lessons with your daughter. Good luck!
Awww, she did great! How wonderful of you guys to stick it out. Exposure to music is so good for the soul.
Bravo, well done. I believe we should start developing our children and their talents early. If they’re not interested or don’t like the activity they will let us know. Looks like she’s enjoying it. Thanks for sharing on Sunday’s Best Linkup.
Aww, so cute! She really is a very talented little girl. Well done to her for persevering, music is a great life skill! 🙂 x
Thanks for linking up. X
I think it’s wonderful that you got her to stick with it! Music lessons are so beneficial! I hope she keeps going!
Thank you for sharing with us at #MommyMeetupMondays!
We’ve decided that quitting isn’t an option at this point and we’re treating it like learning a new language. You can’t really get anything from it with just a little amount of time so we’re committed and invested for the long haul. Hopefully I will learn patience through all of this myself with trying to help her practice 🙂
Awww so precious! She is just so cute and super talented! Thanks for linking up to #TheList x
Wow, that´s amazing! My son started Guitar last year at five, but he struggled to reach the cords even on a children´s guitar. We signed him up for drums this year and he´s really enjoying it. Hopefully it will all add to their confidence! #sharewithme

Guitar is a little challenging for the little fingers for sure! Glad he’s enjoying drums. And if they gain confidence while learning a new skill, it’s a nice added benefit that I’m hoping for as well. Thanks for sharing 🙂
Wow! She is amazing and such a talented cutie. Very impressive for a four year old! Loved the post. Thanks for sharing. #MMWBH
Fun video and such a sweet child. She’s already so confident in her speech. I’m impressed. Thanks for linky up on the Tips & Tricks Linky Party. Good luck to Ella. She may be the next virtuoso.
Wow, this is amazing! Well done. She is well on her way. Thanks so much for sharing.
Being that articulate and confidant on the stage at that age is great.
Thanks for sharing with us at the #HomeMattersParty link party
It was a nice side benefit to lessons for sure!
Looks like she’s done amazing thanks for linking to the binkylinky
Adorable! I am impressed too — only four, wow! Way to go Ella!
Thanks for coming by Free and Fun Friday!
Wow, well done! Thanks for linking up to the #BinkyLinky
Oh! she’s adorable and so confident! I’m sure you’re a proud mummy… Thanks for sharing this lovely video! #TheList
Proud as any mom can be!
Wow – I can see why you are so proud! I love how confident Ella seemed as well as having music reading and piano skills. I am sure performing in front of an audience and her musical skills will help her in lots of aspects of her life, even if she doesn’t always continue to play the piano. #TheList
That is definitely an added side benefit. No nerves to get over if you never knew any other way! I had to go to Toastmasters to get over my fear of speaking in front of a crowd 🙂
Here’s hoping she can apply the skills to other areas too.
